Fewer women want to become mothers
Statistics of Shanghai Population and Family Planning Committee show that the proportion of local women choosing to have children is on the decline. Shanghai average is half that of the nation's, reports Shanghai Evening Post.
The Women's Federation survey showed that about 10 per cent of Shanghai's women were determined not to have a child. The trend has been blamed on the increasing number of career women.
Assisting husbands and teaching children is no longer a woman's only goal. More women are looking forward to a free, better quality family life.
